Equipment

  • To whip up this beef and broccoli stir-fry, I use a few key kitchen tools:
  • Wok or large skillet: This helps with even cooking.
  • Sharp knife: For slicing the beef and broccoli.
  • Cutting board: Helps keep my countertop tidy.
  • Mixing bowls: Perfect for preparing marinades and mixing ingredients.
  • Wooden spoon or spatula: Ideal for stirring during cooking.
  • Measuring cups and spoons: Essential for getting ingredient amounts just right.

Ingredients

Here’s what I need to make this dish:

  • 12 oz beef sirloin thinly sliced
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon ginger grated
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Sesame seeds optional

I always like to check if I have everything before I start cooking. šŸŖ

Instructions

Let's get cooking! Here’s how I put it all together:

  • Mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and cornstarch in a bowl.
  • Marinate the beef in this sauce mixture for about 15 minutes.
  • Heat vegetable oil in the wok over medium-high heat.
  • Add the minced garlic and ginger, stir-fry for 30 seconds.
  • Toss in the beef and cook until brown, about 4-5 minutes.
  • Remove beef and set it aside.
  • Add broccoli to the wok, stir-fry for 4 minutes until it’s bright green and tender.
  • Return beef to the wok, mix well with broccoli and sauce until heated through.
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds for a little extra flavor if you like.

Sprinkle is optional, but I love it! 🌟

    Notes

Here are some tips I find useful:
Cut beef thinly so it cooks evenly and quickly.
I sometimes use chicken instead of beef for a twist.
Don’t overcook the broccoli! I aim for bright green tenderness.
If I’m short on time, pre-cut veggies save me a lot.
This dish pairs nicely with steamed rice or noodles. šŸš Bon appĆ©tit!
