Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your loaf pan.
  • Mix dry ingredients: Flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  • Combine wet ingredients: Buttermilk, oil, eggs, food coloring, and vanilla in another bowl.
  • Blend mixtures: Slowly add dry ingredients to wet ones while mixing.
  • Pour batter into the loaf pan.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes. Insert a toothpick to check if it comes out clean.
  • Cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

Substitute buttermilk: Use milk with a splash of lemon juice.
Adjust food coloring: Add more or less for desired color intensity.
Store leftovers: Keep wrapped or in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
Freezing: Wrap in plastic, then foil for up to 3 months. 📦
