Equipment

  • Mixing Bowls: I use separate bowls for dry and wet ingredients.
  • Electric Mixer: This helps me achieve a smooth batter quickly.
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons: Accurate measurements are key for baking.
  • 9x9-inch Baking Pan: A great size for this dessert.
  • Spatula and Whisk: Handy for mixing and scraping.
  • Oven Mitts: Safety first when handling hot dishes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Whipped cream and sprinkles for topping

These ingredients create a wonderful mix of flavors that are unforgettably festive!

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Mix dry ingredients: Combine flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Cream the butter and sugar until fluffy, using an electric mixer.
  • Add in molasses and egg: Mix until fully combined.
  • Alternate adding flour mixture and milk: Begin and end with flour.
  • Pour into greased pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Cool and top with whipped cream and sprinkles before serving.

    Notes

Spice it up! Add a little extra ginger if you love a stronger flavor.
Storage tip: Keep leftovers in an airtight container for freshness.
Serving suggestion: This dessert pairs wonderfully with a hot cup of coffee or cocoa. ☕
