Equipment

  • Waffle Iron
  • My trusty friend in making perfect waffles every time.
  • Mixing bowls
  • I like to use two: one for wet and one for dry ingredients.
  • Whisk and Spatula
  • The whisk helps get that batter smooth, while the spatula is perfect for scooping.
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Precise measurements are key!
  • Non-stick Spray
  • A little spray keeps those waffles from sticking. πŸ§‡

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • This gives that subtle chocolate taste.
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • This makes them extra rich and flavorful.
  • 2 large eggs
  • Red gel food coloring
  • A few drops for that bold red color!
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Mix Dry Ingredients:
  • In a bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Blend Wet Ingredients:
  • In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and enough red food coloring to get a deep red hue. 🎨
  • Combine:
  • Pour the wet into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.
  • Heat Waffle Iron:
  • Spray it with non-stick spray.
  • Pour in the batter and cook following your waffle iron’s instructions.
  • Serve Hot:

I love to top mine with fresh berries and whipped cream!

    Notes

    Adjusting Color
You can add more or less food coloring to fit your style! Just a dab is needed.
    Batter Consistency
It should be smooth but not runny. If too thick, I add a tablespoon of milk at a time.
    Storing Waffles
Leftover waffles can be frozen! I pop them in the toaster to reheat.
These waffles turn any morning into a special occasion. Enjoy! πŸŽ‰
