Equipment

  • To make this delicious pho, I used the following items:
  • Large pot: To simmer the broth to perfection.
  • Strainer: Helps remove any solids from the broth.
  • Bowls: For serving the pho.
  • Colander: Useful for draining the noodles.
  • Ladle: Perfect for adding the broth to the bowls.
  • Knife and cutting board: Essential for chopping herbs and meat.
  • These tools make the cooking process smooth and enjoyable! 🥢

Ingredients

Here's what I needed for this recipe:

  • 2 lbs beef bones
  • 1 onion halved
  • 4- inch piece of ginger sliced
  • 8 cups water
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 pack rice noodles
  • 1 lb beef thinly sliced
  • 4-5 star anise pods
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • Toppings:

Bean sprouts, lime wedges, fresh basil, cilantro, and sliced chili peppers. These add the perfect finishing touch! 🌿

Instructions

Here's how I made this tasty pho:

  • Step 1: Roast the onion and ginger until slightly charred.
  • Step 2: In a large pot, boil the beef bones to remove impurities.
  • Step 3: Add the charred onion, ginger, and spices to the pot.
  • Step 4: Cover with water and simmer for at least 3 hours.
  • Step 5: Strain the broth, removing solids.
  • Step 6: Cook the rice noodles according to the package.
  • Step 7: Serve noodles in a bowl, add thinly sliced beef, and pour hot broth over it.

Step 8: Garnish with your favorite toppings and enjoy!

    Notes

I found that the longer the broth simmers, the richer the flavor.
I also experimented with different herbs and spices to suit my taste.
Make sure the beef slices are thin so they cook perfectly with the hot broth.
Pho is versatile. Feel free to swap out beef for chicken or tofu. Enjoy this comforting dish your way! 😊
